It is found all round the coast and a few places inland.

It grows in coastal and estuarine saltmarshes, and
occasionally beside salt-treated roads.
Sea Arrowgrass is a native, rhizomatous, perennial
herb, growing up to 60cm.
It is a monocoteledon.
Flowers are in slender spikes.
They are small (3 to 4mm), with 6 perianth segments,
6 stamens and 6 styles, which form a white tuft
(pictures 2 and 3).
Fruits are green, stalked globes - made up of 6 carpels
and the remains of the styles - which rise above the
perianth segments.
Leaves are basal, linear and flattened at the top.
