It is found throughouy the country except for parts of the
North and the far Southwest.

It grows on arable fields and waste ground, by paths,
roads and railways, and as a weed in gardens.
It is an archaeophyte.
Long-headed Poppy is an annual herb, growing up
to 60cm.
Flowers are up to 7cm across, 4-petalled and less
scarlet and more orange than common poppy.
The petals do not have a conspicuous dark spot at
the base.
The capsule is long and hairless.
