The garden plant is found throughout the country.
The naturalised escape is thinly scattered throughout
the country.

It is a neophyte which is grown in gardens and has been
noted as naturalised since the 1730s.
It grows beside roads, paths and cycle tracks, and on
waste ground and brownfield sites.
Garden Tree-mallow is an attractive, rather woody,
tree-like, perennial herb, growing up to 2.5m.
Flowers are 5 to 6cm, with 5 overlapping, cleft,
rose pink, veined petals.
The white anthers appear before the multiple, lilac,
filamentous styles.
Leaves are green with a grey tinge, variously lobed
and up to 10cm.
