It grows in lakes, ponds, slow-flowing rivers, canals
and large ditches.
Yellow Water-lily is a native, rhizomatous, floating
perennial herb.
The yellow flowers project out of the water, are
up to 8cm across.and on stalks up to 3m.
Petals are yellow, broadly linear, numerous and about a
third of the length of the sepals.
Stamens are numerous, yellow and shorter than the ovary.
The stigmatic disc is wider than the ovary below.

The sepals are broadly oval, yellow and much wider and
longer than the petals.
Fruits are persistent and carafe-shaped, hence the name.
Leaves are oval, devided at the base, leathery and up to
40cm.
