It grows on dry grassy banks, hedge banks, rocky, stony
areas and walls, woodland and scrub.
Wild Strawberry is a native, stoloniferous, prostrate,
perennial herb growing up to 30cm.
Flowers are 12-18mm across and have 5 unnotched
white petals with no spaces between them.
Leaves are trefoil in shape and shiny green above when
they first appear.
The deep red berries have protruding pips and down-
turned sepals.
They are tasty but require patience to pick enough for a
mouthful.
It spreads by seed and rooting stolons (runners).
