It is found throughout the country, but is less common in
the far Southwest the West Midlands and the Northwest.

It is found in nutrient-poor, still or slow flowing freshwater,
such as ponds and ditches.
The plants shown here were in a muddy hollow in
grassland above Malham Tarn, Yorkshire.
Thread-leaved Water-crowfoot is a native, prostrate,
annual or perennial herb.
The flowers are white, just over 1cm across, with
yellow, crescent -shaped honey-guides.
The leaves are thread-like and much branched.
