It is scattered throughout the country, but is found
mainly in the South.

Naturalised for over 300 years in grassy places such
as parks, public amenity areas, verges and churchyards.
Spring Crocus is a cormous perennial herb, growing
up to 6cm.
Flowers various shades of purple to white with purple
stripes.
There are 3 pale yellow stamens.
The large, feathery orange stigma is above the stamens.
Crocuses are an important source of nutrients for early
bumble bees.
