It is planted throughout the country.

It is grown in parks, gardens, amenity areas and by roads.

The escape grows in grassy areas, sand dunes and on

waste ground, particularly near the sea.

It is a neophyte, known as 'Senecio greyi' in horticulture,

and arose as a cross in the early 1900s.

It took several decades for it to be established in the wild.

Shrub Ragwort is a spreading shrub, growing up to 2m.

The flowers are approximately 2cm, and both the outer and

inner rays are yellow.

The leaves are undivided, dark green to gray on the upper

surface and silvery below.
