It grows in damp areas of woodland, shaded hedge-banks
and beside streams, rivers, and canals.
Ramsons are native, perennial bulbous herbs, growing up
to 45cm
They form extensive carpets of plants.
The flower head is typically 'garlic', and flowers (12-20mm
across) have 6 white petals, 6 stamens with white anthers
and 3 green ovules.
The leaves are wide and lanceolate.
The ovules form 3 part seed heads.
Reproduction is primarily by seeds.
Ramsons smell of garlic, which permeates the air in
carpeted areas.
