It is found throughout the country, but is more scattered in
the eastern half and the far Southwest.

It grows in ponds and shallow lakes, and in slow-flowing
streams and rivers.
Pond water-crowfootis a native, perennial herb growing
as a floating mass.
Flower stems are up to 15cm tall and the flowers are white,
3cm across, with yellow stamens and distinct, yellow
honey-guides.
The surface leaves are kidney-shaped, with 3 lobes, and
the submerged leaves resemble spreading branches
and twigs.
Stems are robust, smooth and unfurrowed.
