throughout the country, including Hooke, Dorset,
where these pictures were taken.

It is a neophyte which has been cultivated in UK gardens
since the 1620's and is the forerunner of other cultivated
pinks.
It is known from the wild since the 1720's and is
naturalised in the mortar of old walls, limestone, banks
and alongside railways.
Pink is a tufted perennial herb, growing to 30cm.
Flowers are up to 4cm, pale pink, fragrant and with long
feathery teeth.
There are 10 stamens and 2 styles.
The leaves are greyish and form tufts.
