It is a neophyte which has been grown in UK gardens since
the 1730s and recognised as an escape since the 1920s.
It grows on waste ground, brownfield sites and walls.
Perennial Candytuft is a low growing, perennial shrub.
The flower-heads are white and cover the plant.
Each flower has 2 larger and 2 smaller petals.
There are 6 stamens and a single style with a capitate
stigma.
The leaves are narrow and green with a grey tinge.
The stems are rather woody.
