The archeophyte is found in coastal habitats mainly in the
South and Southwest.
Casual plants,which are thinly scattered inland, may derive
from contaminants of wool shoddy.

It is an arccheophyte which grows mainly by the sea
in sand dunes, fields, beside roads, on the tops of
walls and on waste ground.
In the Scilly Islands it grows as a weed in bulb-fields
Musk Stork's-bill is an annual, aromatic, often
prostrate herb, growing up to 60cm.
Flowers are up to 24mm across, rosy-purple and
with no dark spots (cf. Common Stork's-bill).
2 of the petals are larger than the other 3.
The stigma is 5-lobed and the anthers are purple.
Petals are longer than the sepals.
Sepals have a terminal bristle.
The fruits are in bunches, erect and long.- up
to 4.5cm.
Leaves are pinnate and up to 25 cm long. Leaflets
are ovate and toothed.
Stems are erect or prostrate.
Stems, leaves and sepals are covered in stalked
glands and white hairs.
The plant smells of musk.
