It grows on grazed upland grassland and calcareous rocks.
Mountain Pansy is a native, ground-hugging, rhizomatous,
perennial herb with erect flowering stems up to 20cm.
Flowers are 2 x 3.5cm, either all yellow with brown lines
or purple with varying amounts of yellow and white.
The backwards projecting spur is purple.
Lower leaves are oval wiyh wavy margins.
