It grows in damp, freshwater habitats where water levels
fluctuate, e.g., damp woods, grassland, marshes, fens,
and beside streams, rivers, canals, ponds, ditches.and
paths.
Meadowsweet is a sweet smelling, attractive, native,
perennial herb, growing up to 120cm and forming
extensive stands.
Flowers are creamy white in foaming clusters.
Flowers are up to 8mm, with 5 or 6 petals,
There are numerous stamens, which are longer than
the petals.
There are 6-10carpels, which become twisted in the fruits.
Leaves are up to 60cm and made up of pairs of
conspicuously veined, toothed leaflets.
Stems are woody
