Habitat

It is a neophyte which grows on walls and rockeries.

It is naturalised in the wild in Guernsey where it grows

in cracks in walls in asimilar way to Ivy-leaved Toadflax,

Pink-headed Persicaria, Adria Bellflower and Trailing

Bellflower and Mexican Fleabane.

Description

Italian Bellflower is a trailing, semi-evergreen herb 

growing up to 20cm.

The flowers are saucer-shaped, up to 3 cm across and

with 5 lilacc-blue petals.

It is protanderous with the 5 stamens attached at the

base of the style.

The style is white with 3 white, linear stigmas.

Sepals are lanceolate.

The leaves are stalked, slightly fleshy, and kidney-

shaped with small lobes.
