It is found throughout the country, but is slightly less
common in the North and the East.

It is a neophyte which has been grown in the UK since
the 1570s and recognised as a garden escape since
the 1590s.
It grows in hedgerows, open woodland and waste ground,
and by roads and paths.
Honesty is a biennial herb growing up to 1m tall, often
forming patches.
The flowers are up to 3cm across, usually purple but
sometimes white.
There are 4 cream stamens.
The leaves are heart-shaped, toothed and pointed.
The fruits are broad and flat; and used in plant arranging
and other decorations.
