It grows usually in damp habitats, such as marshes and by
streams, but it also grows on drier banks, waste ground
and in the cracks of pavements.
Hoary Willowherb is a native, perennial herb, growing
up to 75 cm.
The flowers are small at up to 12mm across, with 4 pink-
purple, notched petals.
The stigma is 4 lobed and longer than the longer of the
two sets of 4 stamens.
Bracts are alterate.
The leaves vary from 3 to 7cm.
The stems are reddish and covered in soft, spreading
hairs.
