It mainly grows beside fresh water such as canals,
rivers and ponds. It is grows in drier habitats such
as waste ground,hedgebanks, woods and beside
paths.
Hemp-agrimony is a tall, robust, native perennial
herb, growing up to 1.5m.
Flowerheads are corymbs with large numbers of
pink and purple tubular flowers.
Styles are white and long (6mm), giving the
flowerheads a white glistening appearance.
The dark fruits are spread by wind blown pappuses,
reinforcing the plant's identification as a member of
the Asteraceae.
Stems are red.
Leaves are palmate and lanceolate.
