far Southwest, the Northwest and East Anglia.

It is found in open woods and damp, rough, ungrazed

grassy places.

Hairy St. John’s-wort is a native, perennial herb, growing

up to 1m.

The flowers are pale yellow, up to 2.2cm.

There are numerous stamens and 3 spreading linear styles.

The edges of the sepals are dotted with black glands.

The leaves are slightly yellowish with translucent spots

(glands), downy underneath, up to 5cm, opposite and

ovate.

Stems are hairy and unridged.
