It is found throughout the country except for parts of the
North and the Southwest.

It grows submerged by the edge of freshwater rivers,
lakes, canals, ditches and in swamps.
Flowering-rush is a native, rhizomatous perennial herb
growing up to 150cm.
Flowers are in large umbels with longish pedicels up to
10cm long.
The flowers are up to 2.5cm with 3 rose pink petals and
3 slightly smaller sepals.
There are 6-9 stamens and 6-9 carpels.
Leaves are as tall as the flowers and are slightly twisted.
It reproduces from buds on the rhizome.
