coasts in the South and the far Southwest, and a
few places inland

It is a neophyte.
It is used as a windbreak and salt-resistant coastal
hedging plant.It occasionally escapes in the UK.
The escape is more of a problem in other countries.
Ebbinge's Oleaster is an evergreen shrub growing
up to 5m.
The flowers are small, bell-shaped and scented.
They are a dirty, creamy white and consist of a
swollen tube, and 4 spreading sepals up to 5mm.
There are 4 white stamens and and a white style
with a linear to capitate stigma.
The fruit is produced in early spring and is made
up of a large seed surrounded by a fleshy orange
coat.
Leaves are up to 7cm, wavy edged, dark green
and shiny on top and pale beneath.
They are reported to have silvery scales but
it is difficult to tell as they are often covered with
salt crystals which are easily wiped off.
The twigs are brown to reddish and scaly.
