Daisies flower best in extensive patches in spring and
summer but some flowers can be found throughout
the year including January.
It is found throughout the country.

It occurs in most types of grassland but does best in damp
conditions.
It is found in wasteland, road sides, hedgerows, banks of
streams and dune slacks.
It is a persistent weed of lawns.
Daisy is a native low-growing, rosette-forming perennial
herb growing up to 12cm.
Flowers (capitula) are solitary on leafless, hairy stalks up to
20cm (usually shorter).
The capitulum is up to 2.5cm across and comprises a
pitted receptacle and numerous ray and disc florets.
Ray florets are female with ligules varying from white to
pink to red. They are often white with with pink tips.
Flore pleno flowers, with several rows of ray florets,
are common.
Disc florets are bright yellow and bisexual.
Fruits are achenes with no pappi.
There are bract-like sepals (phyllaries) below the
capitulum.
Leaves are spirally aranged in a rosette. They are
dark green, simple, obovate-spatholate, toothed and
petiolate with white hairs.
There is a short stock and fibrous roots which aid the
spread and survival by forming colonies.
