It grows in gardens (a weed) and waste ground,
at the base of walls and fences, and on hedge banks
and shady rocky places.
Broad-leaved Willowherb is a native, stoloniferous,
perennial herb, growing up to 60cm.
The flowers are pale rose and in drooping flowerheads.
There are 4 veined and deeply cleft petals.
There is a 4-lobed stigma, which is slighly shorter
than the longer of the 2 sets of stamens.
Immature stigmas and anthers are fluffy and white.
Sepals are sharply pointed and purple.
The leaves are broadly lanceolate and irregularly
toothed.
Bracts are similar in shape, toothed and smaller
than the leaves.
The stem is rounded, reddish and covered in
small hairs.
The plumed seeds are spread by the wind.
