It grows in dry grassland, pastures and waste land.
Black Medick is a native, annual (or short-lived perennial),
downy, prostrate, nitrogen-fixing herb, growing up to
60cm.
The small, bright yellow flowers are in tight heads
approximately 0.5cm across. They are typically
leguminous.
Seed pods turn black when ripe.
The trefoil leaves are oval with an apical point.
Stipules are lanceolate in the axils of the leaves and flower
stems (picture 4).
