Adria Bellflower peaks with a mass of flowers in May and
June, but a few flowers can be found in most months,
including January.
It found throughout the country, especially in
the Southwest.

It is widely grown in gardens (since 1830s) on rockeries,
on walls and as border ground cover.
It is a well-established escape (since 1920s) and is found
on walls, cracks in pavements, banks and waste ground.
Adria Bellflower is a low growing, trailing herb.
Flowers are violet-blue and bell-shaped with petals
joined more than half way.
There are white stamens and a 3-lobed stigma.
Sepals are smaller than in Trailing Bellflower.
Leaves are dark green, kidney-shaped and jaggedly
toothed.
It spreads rapidly by seeds and root and stem
fragments.
Trailing Bellflower (June), which grows in similar
places, has paler, greyer flowers and the petals form
a much shallower bell (picture 5).
